AIRE Centre in partnership with the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) and with the support of the UK Government organised a training session in Montenegro on the topic of legal standards and good practice in effective asset recovery. Training was organised on 14 and 15 May 2019.
The training was attended by asset recovery experts, practitioners, decision makers and judges from across South East Europe. The key speakers at the event were asset recovery adviser Pedro Gomes Pereira, who spoke on international and European standards on Asset recovery and their application to the region, Judge Mirjana Lazarova Trajkovska of the Supreme Court of North Macedonia, who spoke on assert recovery and human rights standards, Professor Eldan Mujanović of the University of Sarajevo, who spoke on effective use of extended confiscation and its evidentiary threshold, and Judge Radmila Drgicevic-Dicic of the Serbian Supreme Court, who spoke on asset recovery practice in Serbia.
The event was organised under the auspices of the AIRE Centre’s regional project dedicated to strengthening cooperation in regional asset recovery practice to aid the fight against corruption and organised crime.
